Tamil Nadu government will launch “Kalvi Tholaikkaatchi”, an exclusive education television channel, for school students on January 21.
Chief Minister Edappadi K.Palaniswami is likely to launch the 24x7 channel which will telecast programmes ranging from rhymes to Neet coaching covering students in all classes.
It will be available on Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV (TACTV) on channel number 200. “Around 50 teachers are working towards producing the content for the channel. It will be like any other commercial channel but without any advertisements,” sources said.
Trymas Media Network Private Limited, a subsidiary of Liverpool Holdings, launched ‘Capital FM’ in December 2017. In 2018 the company is going to launch several Tamil TV-channels in Sri Lanka. The first channel to launch will be a Hindu devotional channel, called Capital Tharisanam. Test transmission of Capital Tharisanam is expected to launch on Thai Pongal day in January 2019.
Star India’s long overdue Kannada sports channel Star Sports 1 Kannada is all set to launch on 29 December. The launch comes close on the heels of the launch of Star Sports 1 Telugu on 7 December.
Like Star Sports 1 Telugu, the Kannada sports channel also carries an MRP of Rs 19.
Star Sports 1 Kannada has been in the works for more than a year now. In fact, Star had got the approval to launch the channel in April this year. The original plan was to shut down Channel V and launch Star Sports 1 Kannada as a replacement. Channel V was indeed shut down, however, Star Sports 1 Kannada launch was held up due to lack of regulatory approval.
