Tamil Nadu government will launch “Kalvi Tholaikkaatchi”, an exclusive education television channel, for school students on January 21.
Chief Minister Edappadi K.Palaniswami is likely to launch the 24x7 channel which will telecast programmes ranging from rhymes to Neet coaching covering students in all classes.
It will be available on Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV (TACTV) on channel number 200. “Around 50 teachers are working towards producing the content for the channel. It will be like any other commercial channel but without any advertisements,” sources said.
In a bid to woo students, teachers are planning creative ideas like using songs and animations in programmes. The channel is also planning to give an exclusive education bulletin carrying information about scholarships, competitions for school students besides broadcasting messages from dignitaries.
“The school education department is planning to telecast Neet coaching live and make it interactive by allowing students to call the experts,” sources in the department told this paper.
Kalvi Tholakkaatchi is a cable television which will be telecast through fibre-optic cable.
“During the test phase, the channel will telecast more than 15 types of programmes for eight hours. The content will be relayed two more times in the same day to reach more students and viewers,” sources explained.
If the students cannot watch the programmes during their school hours, they can watch it after school.
