Star India gets green signal for Asianet-Vijay TV merger
Star India-owned Malayalam television outfit Asianet has received a go-ahead from the Competition Commission of India for its merger with Tamil channel Vijay TV.
Both had approached the Commission for its approval on 22 October as a CCI nod is mandatory for mergers happening under Section 5 of the Competition Act. Both the companies are part of the Star Group.
"The Commission is of the opinion that the proposed combination is not likely to have an adverse impact on competition in India," CCI said.

BBC Hindi launches magazine-style show on ETV
BBC World Service and India's ETV network have announced the launch of the BBC Hindi TV programme, Global India, on five channels of ETV.
From 2 November, the BBC's new TV programme in Hindi will air weekly on prime time on ETV Bihar / Jharkhand, ETV Uttar Pradesh / Uttrakhand, ETV Rajasthan, ETV Madhya Pradesh / Chhattisgarh and ETV Urdu.
It may be recalled that earlier this year TV18 Group had inked a deal to acquire stake in ETV channels (including these ETV news channels).
