Sun TV wins IPL Hyderabad franchise, shares down 3.46%
Kalanithi Maran-controlled group jumps on the IPL bandwagon with a winning bid of Rs.85 crore per year.
The Kalanithi Maran-controlled Sun TV Network Ltd won the auction for the Hyderabad Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise on Thursday, replacing former owner, the financially strapped Deccan Chronicle Holdings Ltd (DCHL), which had its Deccan Chargers team scrapped by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) because it was unable to furnish a Rs.100 crore bank guarantee by a 12 October deadline.
Sun won the franchise for the Hyderabad team with a winning bid of Rs.425 crore, or Rs.85 crore per year, for the next five seasons of the Twenty20 cricket tournament. However, the final lineup of the IPL could still depend on what the courts say.

Star Plus to air 'Veera - Ek Anokhi Ma' from 29 Oct
Star Plus is launching a new show titled 'Veera' that will narrate a story about a brother-sister bond.
Starting 29 October, the new show will air from Monday to Friday at 10.30 pm.
'Veera' is replacing Star Plus' long-running show 'Pratigya' which is going off-air this week. The new show will compete with the leader of the slot Sony Entertainment Television's (Set) Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, Zee TV's 'Punarvivaha' and Colors' Parichay.

Zee TV to launch Muslim social drama at 9.30 pm
Zee TV is launching a Muslim social drama for the first time to take on the 9.30 pm time slot.
Titled 'Qubool Hai', the daily show will air from 29 October between Mondays to Fridays.
The show is replacing 'Phir Subah Hogi' which will now air at 11 pm slot. With this, the channel is extending its prime time offering till 11.30 pm.
