Star to enter Bengali movie channel space; Jalsha Movies to launch on 16 December
News Corp-owned broadcast network Star India is all set to launch a Bengali movie channel on 16 December.
The channel is named Jalsha Movies and will make its appearance in Bengal three months after Zee Entetainment Enterprises launched Zee Bangla Cinema.
"We are launching a Bengali movie channel next week," says Star India chief executive officer Uday Shankar.

"ATN - Food Food" Channel Launched in Canada
Asian Television Network International Limited (ATN) (TSX-SAT), Canada's largest South Asian Broadcaster is pleased to announce the launch of its ATN-FOOD FOOD channel that focuses on the culinary culture of the Indian sub-continent. It is a 24 hour service to be carried nationally across Canada. The channel just launched on Rogers Cable and will be distributed through many other systems across Canada in the very near future.
Asianet to air Season 3 of
Asianet will air a three-hour grand finale of Season 3 of 'Nammude Swantham Mammookka' (Mammootty: The Best Actor Award) in India on December 8 and 9 at 6 pm.
The show will be aired a couple of days earlier in the Gulf, on December 6 and 7 at the 9 PM (Gulf Time) slot on Asianet Middle East. Nammude Swantham Mammookka is a reality show by Asianet to unearth talented budding actors.
Arasu gets no DAS licence yet as Govt debates over state-owned cable TV outfits
Arasu Cable TV Corp. Ltd, a state government-owned cable television distribution network, has so far failed to get a licence from the Information and Broadcasting Ministry to run the network.
Ministry sources told indiantelevision.com that licences have not been issued to any state-owned organisation for running cable TV networks as recommended by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai). The broadcast sector regulator had recommended that neither state-owned, local bodies nor religious organisations should be permitted to own TV channels.

NDTV launches in Malaysia with three channels
News broadcaster New Delhi Television Ltd (NDTV) has launched NDTV 24x7, NDTV Good Times and NDTV India in Malaysia, further expanding its reach beyond India. The launch is targeted at the over two million strong Indian community in Malaysia.
The channels are part of Asia Broadcast Network's (ABN) new platform in Malaysia and are available in a combination of basic as well as specially dedicated NDTV branded packages.
