gtbcfmTamil radio-station from UK, GTBC FM, has left Eutelsat Hotbird (13 degree East): 11200, V, SR 27500 and fec 3/4. The station was started as a webradio and later it took over the frequency where TIR (Tamil International Radio run by EPDP from Sri Lanka) was broadcasting.
GTBC FM is now only available as a webradio, and it seems to be that they still have the support from their listeners as live programmes etc. are still on-air with calls from the listeners.

London Tamil Radio (First Audio UK) and TBC London are also some Tamil radio stations from Europe who stopped the satellite broadcasting and became a webradio instead.  Recently IBC Tamil Radio from UK, which is broadcasting on both DAB in London, satellite for Europe & Middle East, FM in Paris for 1 Hour and online for worldwide listeners asked their listeners about how they listened to IBC Tamil.
Satellite broadcasting is very expensive and maybe the trend will be to stop satellite broadcasting and instead focus on internetbroadcast as many listeners already have access to internet and to reach more listeners from other parts of the world.

In the beginning before Tamil TV-stations were started in Europe, FM/AM and satellite radio broadcast was very popular. After many Tamil TV-stations started in Europe, Tamil radiostations lost listeners to Tamil TV viewing. In the past we have also seen many Tamil radiostations running succesfully as webradios with many listeners from all around the world. Many IPTV providers also have Tamil radio-stations in their packages, so in the future we may see more Tamil radiostations leave satellite broadcasting and only focus on webcasting instead.
