For the first time in seven years, Kasthuri Media's Kannada general entertainment channel (GEC) Kasthuri TV will don a new look with refreshed content. The overhaul act is aimed at regaining the viewership the channel has lost over the years. Launched in September 2007, the channel has been competing for the top spot with rival channels like Suvarna TV, Zee Kannada and ETV Kannada. However, failing to maintain stickiness due to content which did not click with the viewers, the channel slowly slipped to the bottom of the pack.

Star India is converting its free-to-air (FTA) South Indian-language channels Asianet Movies and Suvarna Plus to pay channels. On 7 January the broadcaster has issued a notice informing customers that the two channels will go pay across India and on all platforms with effect from one month from the date of issue of notice.

In the week 1 of TAM TV ratings, let's take a look at how the regional channels have fared across the country.
In the Bihar + Jharkhand region in the CS4+ market, Big Magic Ganga led the chart with 1640 GVTs, followed by Mahuaa Plus at the second position with 1087 GVTs and Anjan at number three with 964 GVTs.
In the Marathi general entertainment channel (GEC) space, Z Marathi topped the chart with 142265 GVTs. Star Pravah stood second with 64310 GVTs and ETV Marathi ranked number three with 58507 GVTs.

A magistrate court in Chennai on Thursday adjourned the bail plea of Sun TV chief operating officer ( COO) Praveen Kumar to Friday.
The central crime branch (CCB) of the Chennai police arrested C Praveen Kumar based on a sexual harassment complaint filed by Preeti Sivan (name changed), a former programme head of Surya TV, which is Sun TV's Malayalam channel.

The year has begun on a positive note for the Hindi general entertainment channels as most of them saw a hike in TAM TV ratings of week 1.
Star Plus continuing its reign in the genre, gained 654356 GVTs up from 596014 GVTs. The channel's chart topper Diya Aur Baati Hum lost some numbers and registered 10641 TVTs, down from 10743 TVTs, Saathiya Saath too saw a drop and scored 7949 TVTs, down from 7951 TVTs. Big Star Awards reported 9910 TVTs.
