Today IBC Tamil is celebrating its 17th birthday. IBC Tamil radio was started on 9th June 1997 and has been broadcasting on Eutelsat Hotbird (13 degree East): 12597, V, SR 27500 and fec 3/4 for listeners in UK, Europe, Middle-East and North-Africa. The station has recently been taken over by a former presenter on IBC Tamil in early days - Paramasamy Prabhakaran (Para Prabha), which is now running the station under "London Tamil Media Limited".

Sri Lankan authorities are intensifying a crackdown on unauthorised satellite and cable television stations, and dubious distributors who sell dish TV satellite receivers as well as users of such facilities without a valid licence, officials said. These llegal operators have around 300,000 Sri Lankan subscribers.
Officials and police are looking out for residents as well as commercial establishments that use dish TV satellite receiver units illegally, they revealed.

Pakistan on Friday suspended the licence of Geo News for 15 days for defaming the army and the powerful Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), a day after the leading television channel decided to sue authorities for maligning its image and demanded a public apology and Rs. 50 billion in damages.
The suspension of the licence of Geo News was announced by Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) after a meeting chaired by its chief Parvez Rathore. It also asked the channel to pay Rs. 10 million as fine.

Two former top executives of Sun TV have deposed before a team of CBI sleuths from Delhi, which is investigating the case relating to the clandestine operation of a telephone exchange from former Union Telecom and IT Minister Dayanidhi Maran's house in Chennai for illegal transmission of data for Sun TV.
One of them, Hansraj Saxena, who was once Man Friday of Sun TV owner Kalanidhi Maran, is already singing. Saxena, aka Sax, was grilled for two days earlier too. On Saturday, he was interrogated for nearly 60 minutes in a small room in the BSNL office on Giri Road, which has been leased out to the CBI team camping in Chennai. "CBI has till now posed more than 100 queries and I have answered them," said Saxena.
