Gemini Television is all set to air a new serial beginning April 18 and this one is produced by Reliance's Big Synergy. Titled 'Savitri', the daily serial from Monday to Friday at 3 p.m. seeks to draw a modern day parallel to the mythological tale of Savitri.

The family drama is all about Savitri who is disowned by her husband Aswin and as the contemporary tale unfolds, it takes the viewers through a realistic presentation of how the ups and downs of life are handled by her. O.R. Jayakumar directs the serial with story provided by K.N. Selvaraj, which comes up good enough twists in the tale and promise to keep one engrossed.

How a happily married couple get separated and the husband believing his better half to have died in an accident prepares to get married again. And Savitri, presumed dead, recuperates from the accident and steps back into his life with a child.

The cast for 'Savitri' has Rammohan and Meena playing the lead characters and supported by others including Seetakanth, Sahiti and Srinija.
