Amrita TV has announced a special schedule of programmes on 25 December.

The Christmas Day celebration of the channel will start with 'Kavita Poloru Kavya' at 7.30 am. It will be followed by 'Marykkundoru Kunjadu' at 9.00 am. This is a Dileep starrer where he will be seen in the role of a village simpleton mouthing one-liners and indulging in slapstick, Bhavana the 'Mary' to his 'lamb' and Biju Menon as a toughie mistaken for his long lost brother.

TV Today Network has launched its Hindi news channel Aaj Tak on Cogeco Cable, a Canada-based cable telecommunications company.

With this launch, Aaj Tak will now be accessible to viewers in Ontario, expanding Aaj Tak's presence in the Ontario market.

The launch boosts the synergies between Aaj Tak and Cogeco, as Cogeco builds on its cable distribution base offering analogue and digital television, high speed internet and telephony services, the company said.

Star Gold is set to premiere the movie 'Makkhi' on 29 December at 9 pm.

Translated into Hindi from the Telugu movie 'Eega', 'Makkhi' is crafted with state of the art photo animation and special effects by South Indian director S.S. Rajamouli.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha has urged Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to expedite the matter of giving Digital Addressable System (DAS) licence to Tamil Nadu government-owned Arasu Cable TV Corporation for operating in the Chennai metropolitan region.

In the letter dated 16 December, Jayalalitha said that the issue of DAS licence to Arasu Cable has been hanging fire for than five months now despite taking up the issue with Information & Broadcasting ministry several times.

AIADMK MPs had called on the PM on 29 November to look into the matter. However Arasu is yet to receive a DAS licence even as the Madras High Court has refused to grant further extension on digitisation deadline.
