Shyam Sundar is Asianet News CEO
Asianet News Private Limited (ANPL) has elevated C Shyamsundar to the CEO position. Earlier, he was CFO of Jupiter Media Ventures, the holding company of ANPL.In his new assignment, Shyamsundar will be responsible for entire business, operations and investment of the company.
Shyamsundar has over 20 years of experience. ANPL said that he has proven ability to improve operations, impact business growth and maximize profits in diverse industries including manufacturing, infrastructure and service and media and entertainment industries.
Amrita TV to launch reality show for Christian choir songs
Malayalam general entertainment channel Amrita TV is set to launch Deva Geetham, an unconventional reality show that will see contest of choir songs rendered by the Christian choral groups across the state.
The show will be launched on 25 April and will be aired Monday to Friday at 7 pm. The channel has also planned a curtain raiser of the show on Easter, 24 April, at 9 pm.
Deva Geetham will showcase 10 of the most outstanding choirs from churches in different parts of the state, each backed up by an 8-piece orchestra, the channel said. They were shortlisted from a statewide auditions process, which had 58 choir teams competing to get into the show.

Suvarna TV to air comedy serial
Suvarna TV will start airing this 25 April onwards a daily comedy serial 'Paduvaralli Paddegalu' (PP) during the 10.30 pm primetime slot.
PP is being directed by actor Master Anand who had earlier done SSLC Nan Maklu, which ran for over two years on Suvarna TV.
"Comedy has been missing on Suvarna for sometime now, a must area to be addressed as a family entertainment channel. After watching different genre of programs including reality and sentiment rich fictions, viewers prefer to end the day on a lighter note. SSLC Nan Maklu used to do extremely well," says Suvarna TV Business Head Anup Chandrashekharan.

Raj TV turns black in Q4 on back of lower costs
Raj TV Network has swung into profit for the fourth quarter as it lowered costs amid a drop in income.
The regional broadcaster, operating five television channels, has posted a net profit of Rs 12.03 million for the quarter ended 31 March 2011 compared to a net loss of Rs 47.82 million in the year-ago period.
The income during the three-month period skid by 6.27 per cent to Rs 139.11 million, from Rs 148.41 million. However, the company kept a tight control over the operational costs and other expenditure.
Expenses came down 37.30 per cent to Rs 122.35 million from Rs 195.14 million in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.
