TTN Tamil TV (Tamil Television Network) has been testing with prerecorded programme slot on their website www.tvttn.tv for some months with new and old programmes from TTN from their studio in Paris, France. After the channel was shut down on Eutelsat Hotbird (13 degree East) satellite in May 2007 by Eutelsat due to pressure from the Sri Lankan government., it is now preparing for a comeback - but not on satellite. 

It was planned to launch on satellite again, but it's a very costly solution, so instead the management has decided to start the channel as IPTV on smart IP-TV-box. TTN Tamil TV is currently recording programmes and training new presenters from its old studio in La Courneuve in Paris, and the new programmes are webcasted on TTN website with some old programmes.

In 2007 TTN Tamil TV was one of the leading Eelam Tamil TV-channels in Europe, and it managed to launch a second TV-channel called Mathuram TV, which telecasted programmes from the Singapore-based movie-channel, TBO (Tamil Box Office). After the closure of TTN Tamil TV, Mathuram TV was also closed down later in November 2007. 

But with the launch of TTN Tamil TV as a IPTV channel, TTN has planned to launch 3 additionel channels called TTN 2, TTN Music and a 4th channel dedicated for independent productions from establised and up-coming talents/artists from around the world. 

At the same time TTN Tamil TV will become a 24 H live TV-channel instead of the precorded programme block as you know it from their website right now. 

With the new move from TTN Tamil TV we may see more Tamil TV channels closing down their satellite TV transmission and moving to the IPTV platform instead. For some years ago London Tamil Radio stopped its satellite transmission on Eutelsat Hotbird and focused on its live internet broadcast instead. Sun TV Network in UK is also planning to stop on satellite and only webcast on IPTV instead. 
Recently Deepam TV has also launched their own IPTV box called DeeBox, where they are also running more channels like Deepam News 24x7 channel. Already more channels from India are available live on the internet like Shalini TV, Arra TV, Dheeran TV etc. 

It is still unknown if all the old TTN presenters will join TTN with the relaunch of TTN. Some are already working for GTV and Deepam TV.
