Regional TV gets competitive
STAR has just revamped its Bengali general entertainment channel, Star Jalsha, with a new logo and two new shows. Sony, which has started to invest in Maa TV to enter the lucrative Telugu market, will enter at least three new key regional markets in the next two-three years. Zee is leveraging its international operations with the help of strong regional brands in Marathi, Bengali and Telugu.
Jaya TV secures TV rights of Rajinikant's Kochadaiyaan
Jaya TV has scooped the television rights of Tamil language for the Rajinikanth starrer action-adventure film, Kochadaiyaan.
Eros International Media and Mediaone Global Entertainment have sold the Telugu rights of the film to Hyderabad-based Lakshmi Ganapathy Films.
Kochadaiyaan is scheduled to release towards the end of the year in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and English language. Along with Rajinikanth, the film stars Deepika Padukone Jackie Shroff, Sharat Kumar, Nazzar, Shobana, Aadi and Rukmani.

Suvarna launches weekend comedy show for first time
Kannada GEC Suvarna is launching a comedy show for the first time. 'Tirupathi Tirumala Venkatesha' will air in the weekend slot.
Starting 7 July, the show will air every Saturday and Sunday at 10 pm. It is an episodic fiction comedy and the story revolves around a family which runs a small business of home made products.

SAB TV, the first entertainment channel to air Hindi comedy shows for all ages is all set to launch its first reality show 'Nanhe Superstars'.
As the name suggests, the show will provide a platform to the little wonders to showcase their talents. Child prodigy, Saloni Daini aka Gangubai along with the equally talented Atharva Karve will anchor the show.
It will be a fun filled, highly energetic and extremely competitive variety entertainment family show with never seen before acts and dance moves.
Channel [V] to launch second season of Gumrah on 9 July
Star India's youth entertainment channel, Channel [V], is gearing up to launch second season of its popular teen-crime show Gumrah on 9 July.
The show will air every week Monday to Friday at 8 pm. Each episode will illustrate new stories of crime.
The show is co-produced by Balaji Telefilms' ALT Entertainment and Lost Boy Productions. It will continue to be hosted by Karan Kundra.
