Airtel digital TV adds 5 channels to bouquet
Airtel digital TV, the direct-to-home (DTH) service from Bharti Airtel, has added five new channels to its bouquet, taking its total tally to 215.The new channels include PTC Chakde (Punjabi music), Zee 24 Taas (Marathi news), Saam TV (Marathi general entertainment), Zee Chattisgarh (Hindi news) and Zee Classic (Hindi movie).

Chennai: Sun TV is making inroads into the northern market and its chief operating officer (COO) Ajay Vidyasagar feels the impact will be felt in the Q2 of 2010.Recently, the South-based television group entered into a strategic distribution partnership with Network 18 to expand subscription in the northern market and tap the Rs 16,000 crore Indian pay TV segment.
Sony's Bengali movie channel launches in North America
Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) has launched its Bengali movie channel Aath in North America. The channel will be available on Dish Network.Channel Aath is the first and only dedicated Bengali movies channel in India that has a collection of over 1,000 contemporary and classic movies and telefilms .The genre mix includes romantic, action, crime, comedy, drama, horror and literature.

Dish TV launches South-specific packages
Dish TV on Tuesday announced the launch of region- and language-specific packages for the southern market. The company is poised to add about 2.5 million subscribers during the year inching towards an installed base of 10 million.
"These packages are aimed at catering to the diversity in the southern market, with each State representing different patterns. Christened Tango Tamil, Magical Malayalam, Terrific Telugu and Ultimate Urdu, each of these packages caters to specific requirements of local population starting with a monthly subscription of Rs 125," said Mr Salil Kapoor, Chief Operating Officer of Dish TV.
