All television and radio channels have been asked by the Government to send relevant and vital information brought out by concerned government agencies for the people of Tamil Nadu and other southern Indian states affected by torrential rains and floods.
In an advisory, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry said it was imperative that all information is broadcast that can assist those affected.
The advisory noted that Doordarshan and All India Radio apart from some other channels had been disseminating information about the efforts of the government and rescue agencies and even weather-related information, help-lines, and contact numbers of personnel that can be of help to the affected people.

The total number of television channels uplinking from or downlinking into India has risen to 830, with the permission of as many as 125 channels cancelled by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB).
Thus, the government had given permission to a total of 955 channels, which included those who have been later denied permission.
Of the permitted channels, 398 are news and current affairs channels while 432 are general entertainment channels (GECs).
Twenty channels including seven news channels have been permitted to uplink from India but not downlink within the country, as of 30 November, 2015.

Dear Media Asia website viewes. Tamil Eelam Heroes Remembrance Week programmes can be wacthed on following channels in Europe broadcasting live online: IBC Tamil TV, Deepam TV and TTN Tamil Oli. GTV is also telecasting Tamil Eelam Heroes Remembrance Week programmes, but the channel is only available through Eurobird 9A satellite and on some IPTV platforms. All above channels have also added Tamil Eelam Heroes Remembrance Week logo and Karthigai flower logo along with their channel logo. It is noticable that Lyca Media's Athavan TV has not done anything like the above channels.

Zee Kannada business head Siju Prabhakaran, will now take over as the business head - Zee Tamil. He replaces N S Easwaran who has decided to move out of ZEE.
