It’s gotten late off the blocks but it sure is looking to sprint ahead and fast. We are talking about the Zee network’s digital over the top (OTT) offering Ditto TV.

Zee Digital Convergence (ZDC) Chief Executive Officer Debashish Ghosh told PTI over the weekend that his goal is to double his company’s revenue from around Rs 30 crore to Rs 60 crore this year, with almost 95 per cent of it coming courtesy subscription.

With 1.8 million subscribers on a monthly basis and almost 60 percent of them being repeat viewers, Ditto TV is present in 167 countries. Most of its consumption is however happening in India. With the exception of Star and Sun group channels, Ditto TV offers 156 channels across 13 languages. Ghosh further told PTI that almost 30 per cent of Ditto TV subscribers consume live TV.

Going by its history of showcasing shows featuring strong, empowered and inspirational women, Star Plus is all set to launch the classic mythological tale of Ram and Sita, albeit from Sita’s perspective.

The show titled Siya Ke Ram, will offer viewers a fresh perspective on Ramayan.

“Star Plus wants to present Sita as a multi-faceted woman with a mind of her own who was Ram’s ardhangini in the true sense of the word, thus making her relatable to every woman of today. Sita continues to be relevant to this day and we want to pay tribute to the modern Indian woman by presenting Sita’s inspiring story,” said a channel spokesperson.

After adding Ten Golf HD to its offering earlier this month, direct-to-home (DTH) operator DishTV has now added Zee Café HD, taking its HD channel and services’ count to 48.

This is the largest HD offering in the country so far by a DTH operator. As of August, rival DTH operator Videocon d2h had 39 HD offerings.

Zee Café HD syndicates popular American television shows like Pretty Little Liars, Two And A Half Men, Gotham and Look Who’s Talking With Niranjan amongst others to appeal to the English-speaking population of India.

Taking its entertainment quotient several notches higher, Viacom18’s regional channel Colors Kannada is all set to launch as many as four new shows.

Come 25 October and the Kannada version of Bigg Boss will go on air. Additionally, the channel is also ready to regale its audience with three new fiction shows in November.

The third season of Bigg Boss will hit screens from 25 October and will be aired from Monday to Friday in the 9 - 10 pm prime time slot. On weekends, the show will be aired from 9 - 10:30 pm.

On the fiction front, Colors Kannada will be launching a show titled Kinari, based on a mother - daughter relationship on 2 November at 6 pm.
