Even though Max is gearing up to launch the fifth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on 4 April, the Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs) seem to be relaxed and unaffected.

The executives of these channels believe that it will be working as usual this time, and are not showing any concern because of the IPL 5.

It took one year to happen. Zee TV has climbed to the second spot in the Hindi GEC space, intensifying the battle for the rank below market leader Star Plus in a year that is seeing a lot of volatility in ratings.

Zee TV's new ranking was achieved despite a drop of 3 GRPs (gross rating points) as the channel pocketed 214 points in the week ended 24 March, TAM data (C&S, 4+, HSM) shows.

Star Plus is launching the second season of the singing reality show Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar from 31 March. The show will air every Saturday and Sunday at 9 pm.

Star Plus has roped in Clinic Plus as the title sponsor of the show, while it's being powered by Lotus Herbals.
